My hair extensions are due a wash. They are clip in ones, just wondering how to go about washing them? Do I use shampoo? I have a conditioning mask that I am going to condition them with but just wondering what techniques have worked best for others? What is the best way to wash real human Hair extensions?
I had clip-in human hair extensions for years, and I found the best way to wash them was this:
-Get a tub full of lukewarm water. *Not* hot water!
-Use as much shampoo as you would for washing your hair in the shower, but use a very gentle baby-shampoo, pH-balanced. Try 'Johnson's Baby Shampoo', that smells lovely too :)
-Mix the water and shampoo together with your hands until it's all frothy and well mixed in.
-Take your extensions, (making sure they are well brushed beforehand!) and, holding them together in a bunch at the top, dip them into the tub until they are completely soaked with the water/shampoo mixture.
-Take them out of the mixture, and gently stroke the sudsy water through the length of the hair with your fingertips. Do not by any means scrub with a circular motion as you do with your normal hair - only use a straight, root-to-tip motion.
-Repeat the soaking and washing process several times.
Then, when you're done washing, rinse the extensions in a stream of very cold water. Add your conditioning mask and leave on for ages, the longer the better! Rinse off again with very cold water.
Hope this helps! What is the best way to wash real human Hair extensions?
Also when your done washing them, get a towel and dab them dry don't twist or ring them out. After you dab them dry get a large tooth comb, and comb them out start at the ends and working your way up. Then lay them flat to dry. Also what I like to do is while your wash them I like to comb them out, that way when your done washing you wont have very many knots to comb out and the extensions wont shed.
