I have always been curious. Is it slavery and force, salons or people who willingly sell their hair for money?Who's hair are human hair extensions made of?
Watch the movie Good Hair by Chris Rick when u get a chance. Most human hair comes from India. It is a form of religious sacrifice (for vanity no less...lol) for some Indian ppl to cut their hair all off. Hair ';dealers'; then come, sweep it up, wash it, separate it, in some cases dye it or bleach it, then pack it up for America so we can then be vain and attach it to our heads. I believe a lot of it comes from China and is sold for $$. I also watched a show about India, and there is a temple where women shave their heads as a show of religous devotion. The temple then collects the hair and sells it. This 'temple hair' sells for a fortune because it is undamaged and very long - perfect for making extensions out of.
No, I'm pretty sure it comes from Indian women.


I watched Chris Rock's good hair documentary and I saw that in India, women shave their hair for some religious reason and it's usually pretty long. It ends up getting shipped to America to be sold as weave. That's where human hair comes from. Money...money...money.
Hi! (: Human hair extensions are from people who donate their hair, i think for cancer- but i guess the factory or business thingy makes some percent of it into extensions. I hope this helps. :D

Others, such as 'Indian hair' comes from women in India who have their heads shaved in a ceremony previous to marriage.
All of the above. Mostly comes from Asia. Unscrupulous dealers also exploite unsuspecting women who shave their hair in Hindu temples as a religious sacrifice.

Some people sell their long healthy hair for money and some Salons take the hair and sell it.
