Human Hair Extension Color Blending ?!?

Hello all, my hair is between a 1b (off black) and a 2 (dark brown). I purchased human hair extensions in 2. I'm getting a hair weave soon and I'm concerned about color blending issues. My hair is just a little past my shoulders and I'm leaving the perimeter out and some out at the top. I'm REALLY stressing about this and I'm sure that I shouldn't. I've been thinking about doing a semi-permanent color for my hair, but since my hair is darker, I know it won't lift and I want to stay away from permanent hair color...not unless there's a REALLY good semi or demi permanent hair color on the market! :) So...I've attached a cell phone pic of my hair and the extensions. The quality might not be all that great, but you can see the slight color difference. I'd appreciate SERIOUS opinions only! Thanks in advance!

To me, your hair and the weave hair are very similar in color, except for the fact that the weave is shiny. After it is cut, curled, has product on it, etc., then it will look dull too. (no offense) Just let it wear out on it's on. What I used to do is wash the hair prior to getting it sewn in. That way, some of the excess dye is rinsed off of the track hair and it will leave you with the look that you want.Human Hair Extension Color Blending ?!?
they look very similar. you could try a semi but it will wash out eventually anyways. i would not lighten your hair i think that would be a bad idea. the color are so close in shades that i think they will blend in once they are put in. i put in ones that were 3 shades different and you couldnt really tell. dont stress it will be fine
You could dye the extensions darker, instead of dying your own hair, to make it match.
You are comparing it to your true base color which is only the first two inches from the scalp. The ends of your hair is where your concern should be, and old hair always lightens two to three shades at the ends.

So don't stress, it will be fine.

Can I Dye Processed Human Hair Extensions?

So I bought a few clip-in hair extensions (not a full set)

%26amp; bought them in blonde, %26amp; this bright pink colour. I want to dye them black %26amp; figure its okay because their real human hair..but when i went back to the salon where i bought them..the lady said I cant dye them because they've already been processed so much.

Just like with real human hair , over processing can damage the hair making it brittle and dry.

If you were to use a non permenant color, like a rinse..then the hair should be ok. But using a permanent color will jus dry out the hair making it dull and brittle.

okay well firsttttt off you should never buy them unless you would like to waste a whole lotta money ! haha what you do is you go to the place around your area where they sell hair and you find your exact color (make sure its human hair %26amp; bobbi boss is a really good brand of extensions) then you buy the package of hair in whichever length you want and buy a pair of scissors if you dont have any and super glue or sewing materials nowww when you get home after buying all of this you might need a friend to help you and what your going to do is have them measure the extensions against your head so its the perfect length then cut them then after you finished cutting them into the right length of your head then if you know how to sew , sew the clips onto the end and maybe 2 in the middle depending on how long they are ... or you can just super glue the clip on *trust me it works i do it all the time* hah and thats how you make your own extensions !

* trust me its extremely easy ! =] and all together the cost will be around 70 to 100 dollars depending on the length you get !

You dont ';dye'; them you have to bleach them. They sell bleach at the stores but its called ';Lightner kits'; instead of regular dyes which are considered ';permanent applications';.

Herbal Essence sells a Beach Blonde bleach and its only 7 dollars
You don't 'dye' dark hair to blonde, you bleach it. Its a chemical process and is very damaging to your hair. I think you would regret doing it.
NO Just buy blonde extensions. The dye will probably ruin the texture of the hair then you won't have no extentions.

i watched a program on the bbc (english TV channel) called wheres my hair form anyway? and it was a famous african female singer presenting in (cant remember who) any she was trying to find out where hair extensions come from.

first they went to russia where young girl (10-16) where offering to sell their hair for a few pounds (about 拢4.50 or $5).

next they went to india where women men and children (as young and 2) went to get there heads shave- this part of the program was particularly disturbing and there were children screaming and crying because they didn't know what was happening to them but what made it worse was they didn't even get much money for it and in india hair is the symbol of beauty so without your hair your were considered ugly!

and that where hair extensions come from most of the time it is people donating there has because they get a few pound for it.Where do they get the hair to make human hair extensions?
That I know of, there are two ways:

1) People grow out their hair and donate it. Many donate it to organizations such as Locks of Love, who then make it into wigs and extensions for cancer patients.

2) People grow out their hair and sell it to companies, who then make it into wigs and extensions.

Either way, the person who donates/sells their hair has to have a few requirements, like healthy hair and the length has to be a minimum of 10 inches.
Some hair is synthetic like the stuff they use for wigs, I have heard some use horsehair (no lie) and some of course is sold to companies that actually clean it and sell it to salons, Sometimes family members will donate hair so that a person in their family that has problems in growing hair can use it.
Hair extension hair is often sold by people in counrties such as india.

this is because many of the people do not have much money and selling their hair (often long as they dont really get many trips to the hairdressers) is a good way to make some money

the hair is also sometimes taken from horse tails and mains.

My hair is a little past my shoulders and I have lots of layers in my hair and my hair is thin.......so i have 4 pieces going down the back of my head and 2 of the smaller pieces up front. Depending on how well the colors blend with your real hair depends on how many layers you want if you have thick hair and your colors are pretty close i would put 3 or 4 or 5layers on.....if your hair is thin and doesn't match colors closely i'd do 4.....try 3 at first see how well it hides your natural length and add more if needed

If it's 100% human hair, then you can heat style it, without worrying about it burning. Make sure you're not getting a synthethic mix, you cannot wash or style synthethic hair. If it's human, you can do anything you can do with your own hair. As far as clip on's go, you can clip them anywhere, but they have been known to fall off, they're just hair clips with hair attached to them. If you get human hair extensions you are supposed to keep them clean and conditioned. They make them smooth that way they are easier to apply and to style. Companies take peoples hair donations and sew them into a wig or condition them to be ready to ';glue'; into or onto a persons hair/scalp.

yeah it is possible but you would have to bleach your hair which i would not do at home..go to a salon
Yes, it's possible especially because they are in fact HUMAN hair extensions. =]

To get black any other color at all though you have to bleach the color out a little, so go back to sally's and ask them to point you in the direction of some weak (OR strong if you're impatient) lightening powder and developer. Apply the bleach religiously onto the extensions with care, might I add, and wrap them in a foil (You can also find these at sally's) Wait maybe 20-30 minutes because you don't want them blonde, just light enough to color, and then wash them out carefully. You may then buy the color you want the extensions to be and apply it like regular hair, but be warned that bleach and color damages hair so you might have to trim the ends slightly =[ and as I said before be gentle with the extensions.

Technically you can, but i dont suggest it.

Human hair extentions have already gone through a vigorous dying session, and therefore leave them weakened. They are not natural black - they are dyed black.

Dying the extensions will make them a lot weaker and frailer, wiry and in general i BEG you not to do this! If you are streaking them, i suggest scouring ebay for a set of blonde streaks to add to the black ones ( i have red extensions with black streaks myself ;) )

If you must - go to a professional who will assess them and do it for you. In the future, get a light to medium blonde set of extensions if you plan to dye them red. If you get them these colours, they can go virtually any colour you desire easily.

Is it normal for hair to fall out of 100% human hair extensions clip ons?

I just received my HeadKandy hair extensions today. They are 100% real human hair and they are clipons. My concern is that when I was brushing through them when I got them, some of the hair fell out. Is this normal or should I be worrying?? I've read so many reviews about this product, and it's supposed to be very good quality :[Is it normal for hair to fall out of 100% human hair extensions clip ons?

Headkandys are very good, but not fool proof to shedding. Brush them very gently and only when necessary. You may also want to look into getting an extensions brush (aka looped brush) or a soft bristle brush.

You can take them out and let them sit in conditioner water mix for a while and brush them every 10-15 minutes. The will be soft and not knotty and look healthy. A weft is cheaper to buy, and just sew. usually saves about 30-40 bucks. as for the dying, you can do whatever you want to the extentions that you do to your natural hair.Can you curl and straighten 100% human hair extensions?
Yes, you can definately straighten and curl it if its 100% human hair, as its just like you were straighting your own or another persons! Just be carelful about staightening and curling too much as it can damage the hair!

Also it depends on the store you buy from in price, but most of the time clip-ons are cheaper...and much much easier to get put in, but sewed in ones last longer( alough they are time consuming to put in)!

If you want to be sur though about the straightening and curling, just try asking the person or hairdresser you buy them from if its ok to do so!

Yeah you can straight and curl 100% human hair extensions because it's real hair. I think buying a weft and clips is cheaper than buying clip-ins sewed but I myself bought the clip-in sewed in already because I didn't know how to sew them in and I wanted to make sure the clips would stay in. It only costs a little more but it's worth it :)

oh yes you can... all depending on the quailty...usually the pricer ones are the better ones and wont get gross after using heat....i use clip ons all the time and i find it easier to buy the clips and weave seperately...by doing that you can choose any type of hair you please and just simply sew the clips on the hair....it takes about 20 min to sew them together

Synthetic hair can't be dye or use heat product on. The feel doesn't feel exactly like real hair. It can be tangled easily and has to be maintained alot.

For long term and alot of usage go for real hair.

well, to be honest and truth be known, sone people donate their hair, but most I believe is from the ';donate my body to science'; category. when you give your body to science there is a bunch of labs and companies who are signed up for specific items such as placentas for cosmetics, hair for wigs etc. So technically some of the real hair wigs out there are from dead folks or really poor folks who need money ( it actually pays more than $20) or abuseD folks in India and south america, or wouldn't we like for this to be the case 100% of the time: good folks who believe in altruism. The only thing you really have to know about them is that they have a clip so you can clip them in and they stay put. Just pop the clip in the middle and they open/close. The cheapest way is to make them yourself. A pack of 18'; human hair (Sassy, I think) costs $45 at Sally Beauty Supply. A pack contains about 52'; of hair tracks. More then enough for clip-ins!

All you need to do is buy some clips in the color of the hair (they sell those wherever you get the hair), and some thread. You can watch some videos on youtube on how to sew the clips onto the tracks, it's not hard!

When you go to put them in, make sure you back-comb a section of the hair so the clip won't slip or pull off easily.

Trust me, youtube videos come in handy when learning how to put in extensions! Good luck! :)

This might sound a little difficult and a lengthy process..

But I recommend that you separate as much of your natural hair as possible from the hair that is bonded (I'm assuming you have bonded hair extensions). Wash all of your natural hair thoroughly as you would normally and then GENTLY wash your hair extensions. Do not wash the glued parts or even too close near them because they will become loose. I also wouldn't apply any sort of product to or around the glue (on the actual hair is fine). You're also going to have to get them redone every so often.

I've had hair extensions for five years now.

Clip-ins for one. Sewn-in wefts for two. And bonded for the other two.

Ok, conditioner is good, try using hydro shampoos and hydro mask conditioner which can be bought in Francesco salons.

For the tangling of your hair, just use Hydro Milk, it's what i use on my clients after i have washed there hair and i have to De-tangle it. A lot more effective than the child De-tangling spray.

I have tried many products like Biosilk silk therapy, conditioner and water rinsing, topical shining, spray shining, anti-frizz and nothing seems to restore it. I have called the stylists who work with these extensions every day and they just keep suggesting the Biosilk. hey i'm hairdresser, i am trained in extensions and i wear extensions.

problem is with most extensions tht r human, the cuticle has been stripped during the harsh chemical processing. what most manufactureres do is coat the hair in silicone and enzymes to make it soft and shiny. after several shampoo's tht coating wears off.

ive tht exact same problem with mine...and its been a lil trial and error, but i think ive kinda got the hang of it.

because when u get extensions, they r ALOT of high maintenance...u have add moisture to em cos because they dont it get it naturally like ur own does.

doing conditioning treatments helps...ive found mixing 2 together really helps.

also using a maintenance spray will help.

(cos i;m hairdresser i;m a lil product happy so when i did get extensions i didnt really change my routine to my hair too much)

so...

1) shampoo - i use matrix biolage ultra hydrating shampoo

2) conditioner i use Aussie 3 min miracle reconstructor and TIGI dumb blonde conditioner - dont b afraid to mix 2 or 3 conditioners

3) after towel drying hair i use a leave in conditioner - sallys own brand Tea Tree leave in conditioner. this helps detangle the hair.(when detangle extensions work from the ends up to the roots it minimises damage)

4) b4 blow drying i use fantasia hair polisher mist (can b found in sallys hair and beauty) and TIGI ego boost. when blow drying section the hair - makes it easier and doesnt damage the hair as much.

5) after blow drying i use a serum on my hair so smooth it over..i then secetion hair off and str8en.

6) i use a smoothing cream to stop it frizzing up.

dont 4get theres different qualities of hair - most comes from asia..usually india or china...some claim to b european but they arent. (european hair is not strong enough to go thro all the chemical processing and then still b classed as usuable where as asian hair is naturally alot stronger and can withstand all the chemicals)

the true way to get good hair extensions is to get remy hair, but this costs alot, but remy hair is hair where it still has the cuticle

The only thing that will work is Oil Sheen. I'd use something light too. You dont want to bog your extensions down with a lot of chemicals. But whatever it is you decide to use... use only one product for best results.

If you have human hair, you can use whatever you use on your own hair, the hair will not be the problem what you'll have to watch out for is what you use will do the whatever your extension were bonded with glue the type or sewn in, synthetic thread or cotton

On a budget, your best hair extensions would be either seamless hair extensions, clip in hair extensions, or maybe a weave.

Those should be the hair extension starters. Fusion hair extensions are much better hair extensions, but they cost most than the other hair extension that I listed.
i've had hair extensions and i've saved money by buying the hair extensions you'd glue in and instead of gluing them in, i bought clips and sewed them on.

they last way longer this way and dont end up smelling like wet dog. LOL. it was still 60 dollars, but atleast it wasnt 100!\

If it's real human hair, I would think that would be okay. I have friends who have had human hair extensions and have straightened their hair with the normal results, so go for it! :)

P.S It might be worthwhile just to try straightening the very tip of it, just to check, or asking a salon specialist, but as I said, if it's human hair, I don't see a problem.
Yes you can straighten them, curl them etc. but eventually they will start going thin. becuase you have to keep brushing them becuase they get knotty and striaghtening is not good for it really.

but if you do straighten it, put heat protection spray on them and do it. Also when you take them out opf your hair put them down straight so they are still straight for the next time you want to wear them.

if yours do go thin, Go to additionallengths.com which have human har exstenions and are cheap and very good quality. i straighten mine and brush them and theyre still qite thick of still having them about 6 months :)
